Since the resumption of National Higher Education Entrance Examination in1977, the journalism education in Fudan University has revived promptly. Until the journalism school was established in1988, the journalism education in Fudan University had made preeminence achievements.In these11years, China experienced the most liberal thinking and fastest development among Chinese economic reform stage.The development of journalism was highly related to social development. With the promoting of China’s reform tide, the journalism department expanded quickly from only one major department to a comprehensive school. It successfully founded an education system which provided graduate and postgraduate and doctor education in Journalism, broadcasting and television journalism, international news, editor majors. Meanwhile, it gradually set up some institutes such as journalism lab, journalism research institute, culture and broadcast institute and so on which had wide influence in China. In addition, it became the first journalism school in China in June1988and it had cultivated numerous journalism talents.The preeminence achievements of journalism education in Fudan University could be mainly attributed to3aspects:First of all, the economic reform had accelerated the development of journalism, and new trend driven by social transformation had also expedited the diversion of broadcasting and television journalism, news international, editor majors.Secondly, the feature of focusing on research also had significant meaning in raising the education levels of journalism education. During this period, the journalism research in Fudan University was at the forefront in China, especially the various inner publications had started a new trend. The last but not the least was the actively participation of teachers and students in teaching reform. In the curriculum and teaching practice, on one hand, it inherited the tradition of Fudan University which greatly emphasized on literature and history basis and practice. On the other hand, it also made bold innovation to introduce advanced western concept of journalism education, which absorbed the latest teaching and researching fruits of foreign journalism education, and brought broadcasting and public relations courses into the curriculum system. For the teaching methods, teachers and students took hot discussions in the classroom.In conclusion, the journalism department of Fudan University from1977to1988, had not only led the development of journalism education in the early stages of the economic reform, but also formed their own spirit of Fudan journalism education.
