Product quality is important to personal safety and consumers’ interests. However, many products such as food, medicine, spinning and tobacco are highly susceptible to the environment facts like temperature, humidity, concentration of carbon dioxided in storage and transportation. To maintain appropriate storage environment, avoid product quality problems, reduce the labor intensity and improve the efficiency, it is necessary to design a real-time environmental monitoring system. The system can guarantee the environment stability and ensure the products in a good condition by automatically monitoring the temperature, humidity, concentration of carbon dioxided concentration and other relevant environmental facts.However, the traditional environmental monitoring system is hard to meet the request of data acquisition and transmission due to short transmission distance and complex wiring. So the traditional system is inefficient and difficult to manage. Along with the development of modern information technology and network technology, the real-time environmental monitoring system based on wireless sensor technology and embedded technology can well solve these problems. It has very high application value and vast development prospect.This system is a monitoring system that combines hardware and software.It consists two parts. The first part is to monitor the stability of the environment in the warehouse or the circulation of vehicles. The other part transmits the collected data to remote server through network communication technology. The main function of the system are listed as follow.1. This thesis is written to introduce the hardware and software design in detail. The hardware design includes temperature and humidity measurement, carbon dioxide concentration measurement, temperature and humidity control, data storage and processing, server and embedded module. The software is written in c # language, which implements data communication between server computer and slave computer by serial communication technology. The data collected by slave computer is displayed on the server computer simultaneously.2. At the same time, human-computer interaction interface is also designed for intelligent management. Finally, the collected data will be sent to the server in main control room using(Socket) network communication technology realizing the data remote transmission.3. And it has tested on this basis. Managers are allowed to remotely monitor in the control room.At present, the system can be applied to small warehouse, supermarket or transport vehicle to monitor and control the environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, carbon dioxide concentration in real time and transmit the collected data to remote server. The system is proved to work steadily and basically achieve the expected functions.
