With the rapid development of electronic technology which has led to the continuous development of the monitoring technology. Modern environmental monitoring is not only limited to a single sensor and data processor, but also has combited with a variety of smart detection system.With the continuous improvement of industrialisation in China,the environmental pollution is getting worse,so people has become increasingly sensitive to the change of environment.Becauce environmental monitoring technology is lagging behind, and applications of wireless sensor networks is still in the initial stage,single and small scope of the detection method is difficult to achieve unified management of data. For the above problem, a wireless environmental monitoring system based on ARM and Zigbee has been designed, and the system has achieved Multi-point acquisition data of environment temperature,humidity and dust, and which could be transported by wireless sensor networks.In the paper, the environment temperature, humidity, dust data acquisition, wireless transmission, real-time display and store has been as a main line. Firstly, Zigbee technology, ARM technology and embedded Linux technology have been researched from a theoretical point of view, and the overall architecture of the system has been devised after functional analysis of the wireless monitoring system. This system uses a modular design and includes three parts:data acquisition module, data transmission module and data processing module. The data acquisition module is responsible for the environmental temperature, humidity and dust collection with sensor technology; The data transmission module is primarily responsible for the establishment of the network and receiving data which collected by the sensors node with Zigbee technology; the data processing module is primarily responsible for data storage and display with ARM technology and embedded Linux technology. In accordance with the overall system architecture, hardware circuits and software programs for each module have been devised.Secondly, the embedded development platform has been built, the Linux operating system has been ported, the hardware driver has been writen and graphic interface of the monitoring centre has been devised by useing QT and SQLite.The graphical interface could achieve some functions which has included display of the each node data, historical data viewing and data storage. Finally, the feasibility of the system has carried out several experiments, the results shows that the system has achieved the purpose of real-time, wireless and accurate monitoring of environmental temperature, humidity and dust, and provide a different monitor regional compositiona wireless network and centralized management through monitoring data.
