The Swimming Pool Safety Monitoring System Based On ZigBee

Among many kinds of physical exercises, swimming is the only one which is suitable for people from the young to the old. Long-term swimming exercise is a sport loved by everybody and can make people fit. With the development of the underwater sports, the requirement of underwater life-saving is getting higher. According to the statistics of World Life-saving Association, there are thousands of drowning and injury accidents happen in the United States, Europe and China every year. So the research of swimming pool monitoring system has great practical significance.In most swimming pools. The current safety monitoring systems are very primitive, which only make the pool monitored by the lifeguard. The job required a long time concentration and always brings fatigue to them. Accidents frequently occurred because of the lifeguards’ negligence, or the loopholes in the management. Therefore, a artificial intelligence safety monitoring system is needed. The system which already existsed generally judge the drowning characteristics by using camera and processing the image information. The lifeguard will get audible and visual alarm to rescue timely when accident happened,. However, such high cost design still can make mistakes and cause many problems. For example, the image distortion cause by the surface change of the water, the pool is too muddy and the camera blocked by swimmer.Wireless sensor network have been widely used in many fields such as military, medical and health care. This paper focuses on the application of wireless sensor network in the safety monitoring system of swimming pool to assist the lifeguards to protect the safety of the swimmers, and greatly reduce the accidents caused by the negligence of human monitoring or management loopholes.ZigBee is a bidirectional short-range wireless network technology, which is low-power consumption, low-cost, low-complexity and low-speed. Its communication mainly set between short distance, low power consumption and low speed electronic devices. The latest technology is similar to the CDMA and GSM, whose communication distance can be extended according to demand. This paper studies the swimming pool safety monitoring system based on ZigBee. The system get the swimmers’ physiological status by the acquisition of swimmers "heart rate and other parameters. Then the alarm signals are transmitted to the lifeguards through the ZigBee wireless sensor network. The lifeguards can disable the alarm through the device after they handle the accidents. The system would notify others through the wireless module dialing if they didn’t disable the alarm through a certain period of time. In this way, it would greatly reduce the possibility of accidents and protect the swimmersThe following functions of this system can be achieved in the simulation test: Timely detection of the suspected drowning, informing the lifeguard the victims position through the wireless module. It would notify other lifeguards through the wireless module dialing when one miss the alarm. The system can record all the information above.
