The Research On Development Path Of The University Press In Post -reform Era

16th National Congress of the Communist Party of China proposed the strategic decision of "actively developing cultural career and cultural industry". Since then, our cultural system reform enters into a new historical phase. In 2005, China unveiled Several Suggestions on Deepening Cultural System Reform, which required publishing units to restructure to enterprises and establish modern enterprise institution. As an important part, University Press were required to attend. In April 2007,19 University Press became the first batch of University Press transferring from unit to enterprise. Up to the end of 2010,108 University Press in China basically completed the restructuring reform.Over years of restricting reform, especially influenced by the national policy of strengthening cultural booming and development, some University Press seize the restructuring opportunity with improved competitiveness and comprehensive strength, which gradually become the real main market players. However, being attacked by external group force, market competition, and internationalization and so on, University Press also face big challenge. On the basis of research of a great number of literatures, the essay discusses the development path of the restructured University Press in China by combining with research methods such as interview of people in the industry and comparative analysis.First, the essay analyzes the general development outline and current situation of restructured University Press in China; analyzes the development situation of publishing houses University Press in the aspect of local distribution; analyzes the competition and challenge that they face, including the challenge among University Press, the challenge between publishing groups and large publishing houses, the challenge of private publishing organizations, and the challenge of digital publication.
