Tall buildings, such as base stations, are widely used in grid system and communication networks. As a result of natural or man-made causes, circumstances leading to the destruction of the base station occurred from time to time. Till now, video surveillance system is still the main method for base station monitoring, which is not efficient enough as there are still a lot of security risks. Therefore, the study of a more efficient real-time monitoring and management system has great practical significance. This thesis faces the actual needs of remote online monitoring for tall buildings. Working with the base station data-acquisition devices, the thesis designed a server-side software for monitoring tall buildings using GPRS or cable networks to obtain data. Other features include timely alarm handling to lower possible security risks, and the use of GIS technology to the show geographic information of buildings on the actual map. The software consists of two operating independently modules, which use database as an interface:data receiver module uses HTTP protocol to obtain and verify data, and then stores them in the database; data application module is based on B/S structure, using Jquery EasyUI framework to build web pages, and SSH-based open-source framework to build web applications. The test results show that the proposed system can handle online monitoring and communication of at least 5000 data-acquisition devices within an area.
