This thesis mainly carried out the research in RFID testing fields and then designed a ZYNQ-based RFID test board combined with the concept of virtual instruments along with the SORA methods for automatic measurements. The test board hardware part basically contains a high-speed ZYNQ platform, analog transceiver links and antenna systems while the software part contains the VHDL architecture and algorithms in ARM Cortex-A9. System circuit frames, the ZYNQ platform, power domains, clock domains, analog transceiver channels and antennas as well as matching networks have been described chiefly in details with valuable simulations. The test board can be used to test both the tags and RFID readers. For tag tests, its built-in high-speed FPGA easily generates and modulates the baseband signals which will be transmitted by the antenna after up-conversion and amplification. The tag response signals then enter the FPGA to be demodulated and analysed in real-time. For reader tests, the proprietary antenna structure can be modeled as a standard card that interacts with pending test readers and monitors the signals simultaneously to complete the test. The test board equipped with DDR3 memories and a PCI interface can achieve high-speed data acquisition, storage and transmission with a X86 architecture host. Final measurements include signal analysis data such as the carrier frequency tolerance, bandwidth and spurious emissions, etc., along with protocol-conformance and performance results relied on real-time interactions such as the threshold field strength, response time, reading and writing speed, reading distance and so on. The final test results will be displayed in graphs, waveforms, data lists and other means on the Windows platform ultimately.
