With the rapid development of Chinese economy and urbanization, the pattern of traditional gas meter reading system can’t meet the needs of the new situation. The research on smart gas meter reading system has made a big difference in the past years in the favor of our government. Compared with traditional gas meter reading system, the smart gas meter reading system is smart and portable, at the same time costs effective. In the smart gas meter reading system, the meter data is gathered by the smart gas meter, and then the data will be sent to the collector via Meter-Bus. After the repack, gas data will be transmitted to the central data server via the GPRS.As a result, the staff of gas company can monitor the meter reading system only by a computer browser. The emphasis of this thesis is research on how to transfer gas data between collector and the data server reliably and design excellent web software.Firstly, this thesis analyzes current solutions of gas meter reading system. On this basis, this thesis expounds the principle and advantage of the multiply-layer gas meter reading system, and then makes detail requirement analysis. According to the analysis, the system can be reasonably divided into two functional modules, involving community gas reading system and the data center. Between these systems, the socket technology aims at transfer data.And then, the thesis analyzes the features and demand scenarios of community gas reading system. After that, we should select the type of smart gas meter and gprs module. As a result, the whole hardware platform will be certain. In this subsystem, the key points are the design of communication protocol between gas meter and the collector,as well the communication protocol between collector and the data center.Above all, the thesis describes the detail design of the data center. The data center, including the program communication with the server and the web server. The communication program is responsible for data transmission with the remote concentrator, including data collection and receiving control commands. The web server is programmed by java web, provides the gas staff provide a user-friendly user interface. The staff can achieve real-time data collection queries, remote control, and management and maintenance of historical data and household information.Finally, the thesis introduces the specific deployment and testing process of the system, and also analysis the test results. And then summarize the main contents and also describe the upgrade of the future system.
