Wireless Automatic Meter Reading System Based On GPRS Technology

Automatic meter reading is one method reading and processing data automatically with computer and communication. It is the need of improving the automatic level of energy consumption and the necessity of rapid development of computer and communication technology too. It not only may relieve reading person' s labor intensity, reduce the reading mistake, but also has the advantage of high speed and good real-time.This topic analyzed the shortcoming of automatic mete reading used in the present market, such as the semiautomatic infrared, the telephone special line modulation and the demodulation, the main line system, the vehicle carries wireless correspondence, the low voltage carrier communication and so on . Then , I chosed one kind of new bearer service -general packet radio service (GPRS) which develops from the existing GSM system .The GPRS technology has the remarkable advantages such as strong real-time, broad reading scope, quick transmission speed, low communication cost, big system capacity, and so on.This automatic meter reading system used the structure of spot to multi-spots, and designed a communication processor and a data collector, and they both have GPRS function, one is joined with the PC, and the other is connected with the meters, meanwhile, this system has made a small revision to reading software of the original PC. One core parts of hardware designing of this system is both communication processor and data collector use W77E58 which has the double serial port function as CPU, second core part is use the high price SIM100 as the main body of GPRS. Through actual manufacture and laboratory debugging, this system now has passed the enterprise' s preliminary test approval and each target has achieved the design request and the movement was good.
