Study On Data Journalism In The Context Of Big Data

2013 is seen as the year when big data began by a great number of media and scholars. It revealed a wave around the world, leading a global revolutionary in the field of politics, economy, culture and society. In the News industry, the change appears as the rise of data journalism. The data journalism as the cross-subjects of a new mode of News’Production has made a remarkable development in the big data context, and it acquires more and more attention in the Media industry. The appearance of data journalism overturned the production mode and concept of the traditional journalism, which earns vitality for this fading industry. Data journalism is the key innovation employed by the current global News industry to cope with the development and revolution of big data times.This article tries to make a profound study of the new kind of news report-data journalism, based on the collating of the documents and materials about it, and also combing the report of data journalism which is carried out at home and abroad. In the first part, I make an exhaustive study of the historical background about the appearance of data journalism, it mainly includes three points:firstly, the arrival of the Big Data Times; secondly, "Data" has become the core competitiveness of news production in the big data age; thirdly, data visualization technology goes into the news industry. In the second part, I put an intensive research of data journalism from the academically, including the concept and characteristics of data journalism, the discrimination of related concepts and its specific production. In the last part, I analysis the impact of data journalism to the news production:data journalism pumps life into the traditional news industry, it makes creation no matter on the mode of thinking, news production or the presented form of the news report; data journalism prompted the development of Predictive News and Crowdsourcing investigative News; data journalism prompts news value criteria, journalistic philosophy, the role of the journalist who have undergone some degree of change. Through the three parts of analysis and summary, I hope to enrich the existing research system of the data journalism.
