A Study On The Change Trend Of Data Journalism's Practice From The Aspect Of DJA's Evolvement

With explosive augmentation and incessant enlargement of data,the era of big data is approaching,which has formed considerable data riptides and then generates big data.Whereafter,data journalism with “Big Data” at its core has been boosted rapidly.Much attention has been paid on the practice of data journalism at home and abroad,and then plentiful excellent works of data journalism are produced.Date Journalism Awards(DJA)was set up for commending outstanding reports and their relevant organizations and institutions in the field of data journalism.With its six-year progress,DJA,all award-winning works of which represent the anterior trend of the data journalism,has been the most authoritative award in the domain of data journalism.It is of certain academic value to conduct the research of data journalism which is considered as emerging domain.By method of content analysis,this thesis analyzes the changes of award-winning works of DJA and explores the future tendency and changes of data journalism.Finally,several enlightening points are proposed by the author.This thesis is separated into five chapters,taking award-winning works of DJA in 2012 to 2017 as analysis sample.The first chapter is introduction,in which the author displays the research background,research objectives and significance,key and creative points and research methodology of this thesis.And the author also makes a comprehensive presentation of enunciation of research design,definition of relevant conceptions and literature information involved.The second chapter emerges as an overview of evolvement of DJA,including amount fluctuation and general situation of DJA‘s award-winning works over the years and changes in the awards setting and its dimension of DJA.In the third chapter,the author carries out an analysis of changes of DJA's award-winning works from three aspects,namely the links of production,content and visual presentation of data journalism.Basing on the quantization,the author conducts an analysis of DJA's award-winning works over the years from several respects,such as data sources,producers,the involving scope,topic and report angels,presenting forms and platforms,and makes a conclusion of evolvement and frontier trend of data journalism's practice.The forth chapter can be deemed as the enlightenment on domestic development of data journalism,which is acquired from data journalism' practice of DJA.Comparing the domestic data journalism at home with the oversea from aspects,such as data sources,data journalism teams,content of reports,presenting forms and platforms,the author finds the short slab of data journalism at home and proposes feasible suggestions for the progress of domestic data journalism.As the conclusion part,the fifth chapter summarizes the thesis and displays some limitations of the research.
