Laser shock wave technology is a new technology combined with shock peening and shock forming technology. Comparing with traditional shot peening and metal forming, laser shock wave technology has many significant advantages and it is a very promising surface treatment technology. The development of laser shock system is one of the most important parts of laser shock processing research. This thesis introduces virtual reality into the research of laser shock wave, the present study focuses on the following aspects.(1) The high-power laser shock system is introduced. Key components of the system are described and their functions are analyzed from the hardware, software and control systems. Typical laser shock process and dynamic changes of laser, table, targets and other components during laser shock processing are investigated.(2) The simulation system of laser shock wave system is built, and the overall structure of the simulation system is established. The framework of the simulation platform based on virtual reality is designed. The methods and processes of building up the simulation platform are also discussed.(3) Construction of precise geometry and kinematic models of laser shock virtual reality system is proposed, which is fulfilled by joint application of VRML and UG. Besides, VRML, UG and Java are integrated to develop virtual reality simulation platform of laser shock system.(4) When the motion characteristics of five-axis CNC table are being analyzed, the D-H method is introduced into studying the inverse kinematics solution which is the theoretical foundation of space complex movement trajectory planning of the target. After that three different typical shock ways are simulated by UG Motion.(5) A web-based virtual reality simulation system is developed. Different human-computer interaction modes during the realistic experiment are investigated and the modes are carried out in virtual reality environment successfully. JAVA is used to program the interactive interface of virtual reality experiment. The virtual reality simulation of laser shock system is achieved at last.The virtual reality simulation platform is a foundation for virtual reality simulation of laser shock wave technology, and also an important experimental platform for process optimization and automation. Furthermore it is important qualification for multiple-system, multiple-field and multi-stage simulation. Therefore the research has important and significant value.
