As a new public course currently, the main teaching object of the university computer network public curriculum are freshman or sophomore students in computer major class. At present this kind of course continued the traditional teaching method of computer professional ways,"partial theory, light operation", and the kind of material compilation is largely influenced by the reduction method in science and engineering, so the exercises failed paly its due functions in teaching. The study results are many with emphasis on the concepts and rules. Due to the level of receiver and with liberal arts students, as a public course its teaching effect has not been ideal. In this paper, being a teaching reform exploration, in line with to improve the effectiveness of the university public computer network curriculum practice. From the purpose of study result classification theory of Gagne’s, the author combine with the teaching design basic idea, and try to make out a design pattern of practice variant, and rich the teaching design content in university public computer network curriculum. The concrete content includes three parts. First of all, on the analysis of the teaching outline, determining the university public computer network course learning content, and according to Gagne’s study result classification theory and the thought of teaching design, including the learning task analysis, learners’ability level, and the corresponding psychological analysis, the classification of the computer network curriculum teaching goal. Secondly, from the perspective of teaching design, doing the variant practice design research with the result of the study of verbal information, skills, manners.Including the learning task analysis, problem situation creations, support policies and procedure settings, and learning evaluation design, etc. Again, sums up the research achievements, build a design patterns based on practice and classification theory, and select the skill acquisition, including intellectual skills, cognitive strategies, action skills from three aspects as the theme of the application research of verification.As a teaching reform, this paper tries to make the preparation of operable teaching design mode, to promote the teaching reform, help students to learn. Due to the limited level of the author, the paper appears some unavoidably insufficiencies, please experts point out the mistakes. The author in the process of writing thesis further deepen the understanding of education technology knowledge, for I continue after graduation from the professional technical work has laid a good foundation.
