| In recent decades, with the development of science and technology, the economic globalization is constantly increasing; the rise of Internet technology provides a quick way for entering to the global markets. The emerging Internet companies that provide users with services have continued to expand into the global market. However, Internet is not for the commercial naturally and was born with a natural technical defects, BGP routing protocol between Internet autonomous domains only provides the best optimal path, but it can not perceive congestion, packet loss, latency and other issues, and as a result, it can not provide a stable, fast and secure business services for the end user.In order to overcome the natural defects of Internet, The professor of Massachusetts Institute of Technology-Tom Leighton and his student Danny Lewin invented CDN technology architecture inl995. CDN stands for Content Delivery Network, the purpose of CDN is to place a new layer of intelligent content distribution network in the existing Internet, the content of the website was published to the server of network "edge" which is closest to the end users, so the end users can obtain the required content from the nearest "edge" server, it resolved the status of Internet network congestion, improve the response speed of the end user access to the website. CDN services provide a strong technical support for commercial development of Internet. The famous domestic large websites such as Sina, Baidu, Taobao, Tencent, Netease, Weibo, CCTV etc and Google, Facebook, Yahoo are using the CDN technology, the visitors of these site are huge, however the visitors always feel fast and comfortable wherever.As the largest CDN service provider Akamai provides the acceleration and security services for websites and businesses, in the meantime, it also created its CDN POP around the world. After ten years of development, Akamai has deployed over150,000servers in the world, covering more than90countries, more than800cities, more than1000operators, more than2500CDN Pops. As head of CDN network deployment, Akamai network department encountered many problems in international project management. Such as:projects are often delayed, unable to deliver on time; project cycle is too long, enforcement is not enough; carriers complain that cooperation is difficult; cultural differences, communication is not efficiencies; lack of end to end project management. If we do not address these issues in time, it will influence the company’s existing operations and the long-term development.This paper analyzes the problems in the CDN POP international project management, as well as the whole process that includes from start to end for the project, Re-design the whole process using BPR. At the same time, Raised the new architecture for the virtual team, make the staff who involved in the implementation and management of the project into the new virtual team, improve work efficiency. Specific issues concerning the project analysis, project process reengineering, team roles and responsibilities, virtual teams operations. On the one hand I want to use the management knowledge I learned for the practice, on the other hand I also want to summarize the experience of international project management for CDN Pops.
