Study Of The Application Of Project Management Methodology Based On Book's Publication

As a kind of managing methodology, the thesis and methods of Project management have been developing deeply to come to prefect and have acquired great achievement in military affairs, architecture and IT industry since they were firstly expounded in 18th century. Nowadays, 'project' has not been a term only used in architecture and IT. The theorem, method and technology provided by project management are available in more and more industry. And project management is becoming a popular managing methodology.This paper focuses on study the application of project management in presses. First it discusses the feasibility of this kind of application and come to the conclusion that presses or books' publishing industry can apply project management in publishing brand books and main series. Then attain a viewpoint of press establishing virtual project team by certain way of commission or contraction. The paper also expatiate the form of the virtual project team in presses and the status and action of project manager in the team even in the press. Following the paper explain the steps of presses implementing project management and content of project management based on books' publishing.Books project team and project manager responsibility system are the core of books project management. The paper analyzes project management on books' publishing with popular knowledge of project management combining with the characteristic of books' publishing, especially on the books project scope management, human resources management, time management and cost management.In the end of this paper, which is in the chapter 5, the paper analyzes and evaluates the series of civil engineering published by Wuhan University of technology press relative to the methods and technology of project management as to show the advantage of project management.
