With the mature development of LCD and DLP(Digital Light Procession) display technology, the projector industry will become the one that grows the fastest in the optoelectronics industry in the future. The industrial scale of projector is expanding rapidly and its application area is becoming increasingly wider. It is now in the initial stage of rapid growth. Attracted by its potentials, investors from different regions and manufacturers of information appliance have invested in it one after another. The best access to this industry are OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer)and ODM(Original Design Manufacturer), and now it is a good time to cater to the scale expansion of international cooperates, which can reduce the risk of their own brands failing and the cost and time that it takes for complete machine development. As the projector market is becoming increasingly mature and developing so fast, the phenomena of brands gathering, fierce competition and homogenization are becoming increasingly serious. How to reduce the cost in order to raise market share is thus a priority for all manufacturers.This paper mainly introduces the automatic laser marking instrument made to reduce the production cost of projectors. The equipment can paste labels instead of manual labor, thus reducing the labor intensity of workers on the one hand and the cost of production on the other, which operates effectively and reasonably. The principle of laser marking is that marks are carved by chemical and physical changes of surface material caused by luminous energy or that pictures and characters are shown through luminous energy’s buring some substance. The paper illustrates that after the image data of projector trademarks and warning labels are made, they are put into the control storage of laser marking instrument via the communication between the computer and control storage, and then marking is conducted automatically through the grab of PLC(Programmable Logic Controller) manipulator and rotating the projector itself. This design combines mechanical control and inter-computer communication, thus making the best use of PLC and making the marking process miniaturized, integrated and automatic.
