With the development of information technology, reinforcement portable computers becoming increasingly widespread used in the areas such as industrial, defense and exploration and so on. A new generation of reinforced portable computers is hoping more energy efficient, lightweight and feature-rich in the future.The motherboard of the computer in this article which is built in the platform of Chief River developed by the INTEL is designed based on the INTEL Platform Controller Hub, PCH for short. The Chief River is composed by two parts, the CPU part which codenamed is Ivy Bridge processor and the PCH part which codenamed is Panther Point chipset.The features of the platform is a two-chip design,with full and rich interface, achieving higher processing while taking power consumption into account through the Turbo Boost Technology. The modules of the computer that designed by the PCH architecture which is including processor modules, chipsets, modules, embedded modules are discussed about its analysis of the detailed specifications, designing features of these modules, and design the hardware circuit in this paper. The computer achieves a wide operating temperature and other functions by increasing the special function modules which are the battery control module, the timing control module and the low temperature heating independent control modules based on the modular design.Signal integrity and electromagnetic compatibility problems are made a detailed analysis during the design phase for the computer then the printed circuit designed. After completing the design and production of the board, the debugged and tested were conducted that the motherboard functionality, performance and signal quality of a comprehensive test of the machine functions, electromagnetic radiation and other environmental adaptability are included.All tests got through and achieved a good result in the final. The completion of the design of the motherboard and debug based on the scheme has a universal reference value in the future.
