Parameterized design is an important part of mechanics design. Theparameterized design is a whole process from the analyses of function to the creationof parameterized models. Using parameterized design, the designer no need to drawmodels. Only change parameters can create different forms of models. Avoid of thesame kind of parts design. With parameterized design, the designers can beliberated from complicated repeated modeling, thus they can invest more time andeffort to the project in virtual assembling and the analysis of force and movementsimulation.CAD is an important link in the life of cycle of products, and is the keytechnology in the process of implementing CIMS. At present, CAD is developingtowards the direction of facing product life cycle. Thinking of the assembly,manufacturing inspect and so on, in the course of designing, in order to reduceproblems as little as possible, which appear possibly in the future production, andshorten the period of designing, improving the efficiency of designing, strengthen thecompetition of product, this aspects must be considered.For a start, this paper puts forward the design thought about CAD/CAM secondarydevelopment and the overall scheme of the project implementation, introduceddevelopment tools of UG and its usage; then introduces dynamic template creating andparameter driving in UG environment. Mainly introduces UG parametric standardmodeling (including model constraint, layer set and expression control) andorganization of models, use specialized detection software to detect models, it isemphatically introduced about using VC++6.0software to realize parameter drivingof models,which including the creation of user-defined menu, the establishment ofdialog box based on user’s features and utilize the expression of program driver tochange model’s shape and size, complete some needs of the user about the modelparameters; Finally, uses VC++6.0and UG to joint program to accomplish automatic assembly of three-dimensional model in UG environment, including pickup assembly informations, create and solve assembly constraints, update assemblysystems.The software development system with low cost, perfect software function,friendly user’s interface, easily to modification and update; it has some referencevalue to serialized models and simulate products.
