The 3-D pump model cannot only be used in assembly, intervene inspection and process simulation, but also provide computational model for FEA and CFD. At present, most designers build 3-D model by manual, which leads to many repeated works. In order to shorten the periods of product design and improve the work efficiency, researchers attach more and more importance to the 3-D modeling parametric design.The main work of this paper is outlined hereinafter:1. The states of art of pump's CAD are introduced, and the current problems of pump CAD, especially in China are introduced. The basic method of 3-D modeling is presented.2. On the base of comparison among many secondary-developed tools, such as Family Table, UDF, Pro/Program, J-link and Pro/TOOLKIT, and according to the characteristics of 3-D modeling of pumps, the Pro/TOOLKIT is chosen as the secondary-developed tool. Under the environment of Visual C++6.0, the parametric 3-D modeling software PCAD-3D is developed, which includes column blade, curved blade, double channel impeller, volute and radial vaned diffuser, etc.3. The problem of data communication between PCAD-3D and P CAD2004 has been solved, and the data sharing between PCAD-3D and PCAD2004 is realized.4. The parametric 3-D model software and its parametric 3D modeling of column blade, curved blade and double channel impeller were successfully developed. And the dimensional variables driven parametric modeling software of impeller is developed for the first time.5. The parametric 3-D model software and its parametric 3-D modeling of volute and radial vaned diffuser were successfully developed. And the dimensional variables driven parametric modeling software of diffuser is initially developed.The software of parametric 3-D modeling of pump PCAD-3D has merits such as friendly interface, easy operation, good practicality and comprehensive function, which accelerate the technique of pump CAD development.
