The Application Of Business Intelligence Tools In Guohua Decision Supporting System

China’s power generation industry is in a crucial period of transformation and upgrading. Several contradictions affecting the power generation industry are becoming increasingly prominent, including the increasingly competitive international industry, lack of our own core competitiveness, resource and environmental constraints and rising costs, etc. Influenced by the falling social power demand, improving environmental requirements, increasingly strained energy resources, the overall sustainable development of the power generation group is not strong. Therefore, the decision-makers of the power generation groups are eagerly to control the financial status, production status, spare parts inventory situation, the daily operating conditions of each power generation company in a real-time and dynamic manner, so as to help reducing production costs, improving asset utilization, achieving overall profitability improvement and upgrading.After several years of development, the information construction of Guohua Electricity Power (GHEPC) industry is facing the following dilemmas:the data source of different business in each operating department is not unified, the data statistics caliber is different, various business information systems have becoming information islands, and the Decision Supporting System (DSS) of GHEPC is insufficient in integration and analytic. In this paper, we utilize the data warehouse technology and the business intelligence tools to Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) the business information system indexes, and demonstrate all the above information to users in different ways.In the DSS construction and deepen application, the business data analysis covers all business applications, which achieves delivering the production data and production conditions in near real-time, sharing data promptly and accurately, eliminating the upper and lower information asymmetry management problems, and finally comes to a unique data source, data integrity, accuracy and comparability of the data has been greatly improved. The establishment of a unified business intelligence platform achieves a highly integrated, concentrated and deeply mined indicator data, and eliminates the information islands. The DSS construction and deepen application introduces the advanced data warehouse technology, utilizes the business intelligence tools to build a comprehensive index system covering production, management and all other aspects, and builds the power company’s comprehensive evaluation system. On the basis of the index system, the DSS integrates the whole company’s information resources, and builds the data warehouse covering the real-time and non-real-time data, which supports business decisions and analysis. The DSS has become the main platform for the group leaders and operating departments to master the safety, production and economic operation of each power companies.
