Problems And Solutions: Pictures Of Food Safety Supervision From The Perspective Of People’ Daily

Food safety is becoming a more and more serious problem as modern societydevelops, as well as a focus of social concerns. Frequent scandals of food safetyaggravate the complexity of food industry, leaving the consumers less able to judgethe quality of food, consequently making the government much more relied on. Thiscircumstance is testing the government’s capacity on food safety supervision, which isone of the great unavoidable challenges.Based on the above, People’s Daily is adopted as the perspective of research inthis dissertation. Database is set up based on related reports on food safety in People’sDaily (2002-2013), and is applied in the coming analysis on current situation andproblems of China’s food safety supervision. The major concern for People’s Dailyadopted as the perspective of research is that as a national authority of newspaper, it isone of the important carriers of official state media, which presents the status quo offood supervision with most vivid materials. Therefore, it is the picture from the viewof People’s Daily, rather than the food supervision in general that is being discussed inthis dissertation.Therefore, questions are raised by the author: What are the existing defects inChina’s food safety superstition (from the perspective of People’s Daily)? What arethe main causes of them? How to improve the path of choice in China’s foodsupervision? Etc. Aiming at these questions, textual analysis is used towards thecontents of database, in order to have a deeper discovery and “let facts speak, provewith data”. The research will focus on the status quo, the defects and relevant causesof China’s food supervision (from the perspective of People’s Daily). Choices of pathsare raised according to the dilemma, with feasible comments of improvementprovided.
