"People's Daily" News Public Opinion Research 2003-2012

At present, China is in a critical period of social transition, the shift from a closed society to an open society, from an agricultural society to an industrial and information society, from a planned economy to a market economy system. In this process of transformation, there are so many social contradictions and problems that caused complex changes in the social psychology. Combined with the development and popularization of new media, public opinion situation has undergone a series of complex changes. However, due to the party newspaper unresponsive to some social public emergencies, even when some event has developed into a common focus of attention of public opinion, the party newspaper remains unmoved, so that in the highly competitive media ecology continuing loss of the initiative to speak and the dominance of public opinion, the news media is facing a crisis of being marginalized,"In theory, supervision by public opinion and public opinion to guide go hand in hand", which further weakened the credibility and influence of the party newspaper."People’s Daily" as the official newspaper of the CPC Central Committee since the beginning of the new century, in the face of fierce competition from new media, has been revised three times, but the news media reports showed how the existence of the problem, how to crack these problems, we’ve analyzed some reported over the past decade by the "People’s Daily" in this paper.The paper is mainly constituted by the introduction (Chapter Ⅰ), main text (three chapters), Conclusions and Prospects (Chapter5). The Introduction section introduced the purpose of this study, the research questions and research value, and Research and methods. Chapter Ⅱ, Chapter Ⅲ and Chapter IV are the main part of this article. Based on the sample statistics and features and highlights in the People’s Daily, we investigated the development and evolution trajectory of the People’s Daily in decades, and analyzed the changing background. In the first stage, it showed a balanced coverage of all fields with low-key news commentary. In the second stage, the press comment began to rise with the supervision of space to expand. In the third stage, the depth reports began to force, and set off a reported net interactive climax. Various stages of supervision reports have shown a different highlight and focus. In addition, we analyzed some elements of the supervision reports of the various stages of the "People’s Daily" from the microscopic point of view. And we also analyzed some typical cases of10 years of supervision reports. We’ve compared the supervision reports of "People’s Daily" with those in other newspapers in the same period in order to more fully explore the multiple facets of supervision reports. Based on those analyzes, we have made the conclusion of the study. And we’ve made some suggestions and outlook that how to better make the supervision reports of the People’s Daily.
