With the further developing of China’s reform and opening up inrecent years, china’s economic development has entered a new stage. Inthe past20years, China’s highway network has developed close to thelevel of developed countries. The safety driving on the highway is veryimportant to national economy and people’s lives. However, because ofsome meteorological factors, highway accidents will cause a huge amountof personal and property lost every years. Meteorological factors arelocalized and happening suddenly, which making drivers on the highwaydon’t know the weather conditions and the road conditions ahead, leadingto some highways accidents. Especially when the phenomenon ofagglomerate fog happens in some sections, it will cause a sudden drop invisibility, which is very dangerous to the driver because they cannotprepare for it in time. Nowadays, on the highway, there hasn’t a real-timeweather warning system, which is a big risk for safe driving on thehighway.For this reason, this paper put out the design of distributedmeteorological information collection system based on ZigBee wirelesssensor network, installing some data collectors with a certain distanceapart on the highway, which can provide the real-time monitoring of theweather conditions on the forward highway by constantly meteorologicaldata collection of temperature, humidity, light on every section of thehighway. And then analyze the data with meteorological warning system,reminding the driver timely to take emergency measures, ensuring thesafety driving. Firstly, this issue studies the development history and current researchstatus of wireless sensor network, and analyzes the characteristics andtransmission distance of IEEE802.15.4and ZigBee protocol. Based onthis, this issue put forward the overall design of the system, and analyzesthe feasibility of this design. Secondly, this paper introduces the hardwaredesign of the meteorological information collection node. The node usesSTM32W108semiconductor chip as the main control unit, which isproduced by ST and based on Cortex-M3, to implement ZigBee networkcomposition and meteorological data collection. Meanwhile, this paperintroduces the software processes and programs of different functions.At last, this essay designs the meteorological information controlcenter based on LabVIEW, and test the system in the simulated highwaycondition, summarizing the problem at the present stage and put up thefuture research directions.
