In the twenty-first century, with the digital information evolving, more and more people’s life become electronic, e-book are one of the important products of electronic. E-book has been accepted and develop rapidly because its advantages like large storage capacity, easy to carry, easy to share and transfer on network etc.This paper described project is a e-reader client based on the Android platform, the project provides users with basic e-reading functions, and a wealth of books resources, books resources is divided into three categories:books, magazines and newspapers, three categories is divided into smaller categories, users can enter keywords to search, besides users can adjust the brightness, select the director, adjusting fonts when users reading books, users can review books after read books, share books to third-party platform, and also provides users with recommended books, book subscriptions, simulation bookshelves, personal settings and other functions.This paper describes the background and development status of Android e-reading project firstly, then describes the Android operating system architecture and related development technologies, then describes functional requirements and non-functional requirements of electronic reading. Then design project architecture and modules division based on needs analysis, the project has been divided into six modules: recommended modules, subscription modules, local reading module, online bookstores module, comment and share modules and set module, and then designs the database tables and the relationship between table and table, and then explain the basis for the realization of the outline design of each module, and then presents the results of the optimization methods and project functional testing and non-functional testing. Finally, the paper summarized to explain the problems now and the future. Through continuous testing and improvement, electronic reading is stable, and was carried out on a real machine testing and verification, basically meeting the needs of user’s standards.
