Network management plays key role in improving network unit utilization rate and ensuring network’s normal operation, the optimization of network performance, network security, quality of service through fault’s location and the investigation. SDN(Software Defined Networking) has brought new opportunities and challenges for the network technology, especially the development of network management technology. SDN separates data forwarding and data control, and powered by the software of central control node, making the whole network to achieve automation control. OpenFlow is the most one of the ideals to achieve SDN. But the current problem of network management based on SDN technology problem is short of standard network management protocols. How to manage the integration of SDN platform network becomes the hot of research and application in the field of network management.The author has finished the work as follows independently:Give the network performance management model based on Web by analyzing, and analyze the network management protocol interface above SNMP network management protocol, SDN network architecture, and realization way. Then design a network performance management system based on SDN technology and SNMP. The system is divided into data acquisition module, data analysis module, alarm module and the platform of network management platform. Via SNMP protocol adapter interfaces, OVSDB management standard RPC interface and Open Flow plug-ins, the data acquisition module for traditional network equipment and SDN network equipment is completed. To improve the collection storage efficiency, I designed a multi-threaded polling acquisition mode, using a separate data storing thread. The storage of performance thresholds alarm information in the data analysis module is achieved by performance poll and performance index computing. Trap and Java Socket-based equipment failure real-time monitoring and alerting function is realized, which provides upward performance alarms and fault alarms data interface. Under MVC design pattern, the network performance management platform’s functions of device management, real-time inquiries, alarms, SDN inquiries and account management are achieved. Using AJAX technology, I completed the regular partial page refresh of the management platform which improves the user experience. Functional testing of each module using the test case, the overall summary of the work papers, the insufficient and outlook are all elaborated in the paper. This paper explores the SDN technology and its application in network management, which is a hot point both in research and application field. Using the SDN platform in my laboratory, the network performance management system is achieved, which is a useful attempt at SDN network management interface, laying the foundation for further practical engineering applications. This network performance management prototype system, which combined the SDN technology, has been tested and successfully run in the laboratory.
