Snmp Network-based Performance Management And Realization

The development of network and communication technology provide convenient and shortcut approach to exchange information and share resource. On the other hand, there has been the problem how to manage the network since the network appeared. SNMP emerging as the times require with the development of Internet provides the universal methods to get and configure the information of network management from the objects managed. It is a discussable problem how to understand SNMP deeply and apply SNMP to practice effectively.This paper researches the correlative contents of SNMP and network performance management, design and implement a network performance management system that applies SNMP to gather the management data. The work designs the schema to monitor and manage the performance of large trunk network. The alarming mechanism designed can also be apply to other network management fields. The system adopts Java Applet+Servlet to implement the web-based mangeraent mode which fits nowaday need of distributed in network management field.The paper has four chapters: referencing the order of practical work ,The first chapter introduces the content, nowadays techniques of the whole network management .especially the performance management. The second chapter firstly introduces the composing of SNMP protocol system, emphasizes the content of MIB and PDU, then analyses the work mechanism and transport course of SNMP messages. The third chapter designes the system functions and structure, giving a three-tier network management mode based on Web-Slient + server + resource and the developing model in which Java Servlet is used for Web server, C for applying server, Java Applet for client browser and socket for the middleware of information exchange.The last chapter expatiates respectively the implement of all modules.
