Research On The Role Of Living Libraryin The Promotion Of Library Knowledge Service

Knowledge serviceis where the core competence of library to meet the challenges of thenew era lies. As a hub of knowledge, the library is obliged to carry out long-term effectiveknowledge service, and constantly improve the level of it, actively adjust service strategies tomeet the new needs of users in the new period. In the optimization process of the libraryknowledge service, innovative service concept and service approach are particularly important.With its natural advantages in knowledge service, Living Library is a new approach to serviceat home and abroad in recent years. Living Library’s core philosophy is to make thereader-to-reader service possible and thus maximize the transfer of knowledge and innovation,which is consistent with the initial purpose of the library knowledge service. The introductionof the Living Library to knowledge services has important practical significance in promotinga long-term library knowledge service.The background of this topic is introduced in this paper along with the significance of itexplained.Then itelaborated the relevant research results of the introduction of LivingLibraryto knowledge service at home and abroad, as well as research ideas, methods andinnovations. Followed by an overview of the meaning and significance of library knowledgeservice, the origin and meaning of Living Library, and then analyzed the advantages ofintroducing Living Library from the followingtwo perspectives: the library and readers. Onthis basis, it summarized the Living Library’s role in promoting knowledgeservice. LivingLibrary converts the concept of traditional knowledge services, innovates service approach,expands the services and enhances the level of personalized service to achieve the tacitknowledge transfer and sharing. Subsequently it elaborated specific embodiments, activelypromotion, launching of multi-party cooperation and establishment of a scientific long-termensurance system. Then it listed successful practical cases of introducing Living Librarydomestically including Shanghai Jiaotong University Library, analyzing and summarizing thespecific content of its activities. Finally, the paper summarized and prospected the carryingout of the Living Library in library knowledge service.
