A suitable environment plays a decisive role for the growth of crop and high yield, so thereal-time monitoring of crop growth environment is always an important task in the process ofagriculture development. At present, at home and abroad it has attached much attention toagricultural monitoring, also has achieved some results. But at present, in China crop growthenvironment monitoring systems are still have some shortcomings, such as simple monitoringproject, high cost and low reliability.Recent years, there has been a wireless sensor network with low cost, small volume, lowpower consumption and multiple functions. It is mainly composed of a plurality of sensor nodes,the integration of a variety of techniques, such as: integrated circuit, system on chip, wirelesscommunication, micro electromechanical system and low power embedded technology. ZigBeetechnology of wireless sensor network is very representative which has the advantages ofwireless sensor network, has been widely applied to intelligent Home Furnishing, industrialmonitoring and military reconnaissance and other aspects.All of them have achieved goodresults.Under this research background, the subject applies the ZigBee wireless sensor to thegrowth of crops and environment monitoring system, has designed the environmentalmonitoring system of crop growth which based on ZigBee wireless sensor networks. Thissystem can real-time monitor crop growth environment, complete the acquisition andtransmission, analysis and storage the data, provide convenient reliable data for usermanagement of greenhouse.The application of this system can reduce the labor intensity offarmers, promote the realize of scientific planting.The monitoring system includes: terminal nodes, router nodes,coordinator nodes and PCmonitoring software. The terminal nodes are connected with the sensor mainly responsible fordata collection. The router nodes with route function are the intermediate link between terminalnodes and coordinator nodes. And they also can complete the task of the terminal nodes. Thecoordinator nodes can complete the formation of a new network, the network is connected witheach node and PC, to realize the network communication system the software of the uppercomputer. PC monitoring software receive the environmental motoring data and save and analysis. Through the PC users can real-timely know the environment information of cropgrowth. With the help of data analyze and expert database, the change of the crop growthenvironment can be free and rational realized, so as to achieve the goal of high yield.This research has mainly completed the following work. At first, it has detailedinvestigation of the development status of agricultural monitoring technology at home andabroad and affirmed the significance of this task. Secondly, it has in-deathly studied ZigBeetechnology, the characteristics, the protocols and network topology structure of learning.Thirdly, with the clear aims of system, it has designed the overall structure and has chosen thecorresponding hardware equipment according to the requirement of functions such as sensor,CC2530chip and CC2591RF chip. Then, it has built the hardware platform system, given thecircuit diagram of each module and the circuit board requirements. Later, using the TI’s Z-stacktechnology has built a complete ZigBee network to realize the communication function of thesystem. Finally, the data base of the system was summarized. PC software was compiled tocontrol the system.
