People’s way of life has changed with the arrival of the media age. The rapiddevelopment of the medium and the emergence of new media make the teachingprofessions faced with new challenges constantly. College students, as an intellectualgroup, have access to large amounts of information. While, for lack of discriminationability and proper understanding of the media, they are apt to make the mediainformation with ideology and value orientation equivalent to social reality, what’sworse, they will have one-sided understanding or even misunderstanding of thesociety.Against this backdrop, it is urgent for college students to cultivate and strengthentheir media literacy to adapt to the developing trend of new media better so that theycan deal with the challenges brought about by the diversity of media types anduncertainty of media information content.This thesis aims to explore the cultivation ofP. E. specialized students’ media literacy from the perspective of media ecology,whichcan help suit the execution of media literacy cultivation in terms of persons involvedin P.E. colleges or department and also further promote the harmonious developmentof media literacy and media ecology.The whole thesis includes five chapters in all. As the introduction, chapter oneintroduces the contextual background, purpose and significance as well as theresearch priorities and innovation of the study. In chapter two, a brief review ofresearches home and abroad, the definition of media ecology and media literacy aswell as the relationship between them will be presented. In the third part, by themeans of questionnaire and interview, some surveys have been done among the P. E.specialized students of the six colleges in Nanchang, which includes NanchangUniversity, Jiangxi Normal University and so on to understand the status quo of thosestudents’ media literacy. The main problems existing will be summarized and thecauses will also be analyzed by the use of quantitative and qualitative method. Inchapter four, some proper training paths and mechanisms for cultivating P. E.Specialized students’ media literacy will be proposed. In chapter five, conclusions willbe drawn on the basis of the major findings, and it will also point out the limitations and follow-up of the study.Communication, sociology, pedagogy,psychology and other related theories areinvolved in this study. By the use of literature study method, questionnaire, interview,statistical method and other research methods, the author gives a definition to mediaecology and media literacy. Based on the research results, some proper training pathsand mechanisms for cultivating P. E. specialized students’ media literacy are proposed,which will provide a theoretical reference for the cultivation of P. E. specializedstudents’ media literacy and will also deepen the research on media literacy.
