With the rapid economic and social development in China for recent years,social issues related to education, health care, pension, housing, employment andre-employment are becoming more and more prominent. As a result, governments atall levels began to pay more and more attention for the important role of socialscience in solving social problems. In order to make social science to play its due roleeffectively, people need to evaluate the academic achievement of social sciencesscientifically and reasonably. Our experts and scholars on the social sciences havestarted to evaluate the academic achievement of social science; however, theevaluation work is confined to the theoretical research, but not the in-depth researchin methods and application evaluation.There is no systematical, mature, perfectacademic achievement evaluation system existed, which resulted the community onlyblindly used the extrinsic characteristics such as journal quality, citation index(including citation rates, downloads, etc.) and references as the evaluation standards.However, these evaluation standards will lead to the duplication of research, unevenquality, and academic impetuous and corruption becoming seriously. Rapid economicdevelopment provides superior living conditions for people, but some social issues areaccompanied by the economic development. High-quality scientific research isdiscover and used to solve these social problems in order to provide a higher qualityof life for people. Therefore, a reasonable assessment of the social science academicachievement is imminent, which is necessary to evaluate social science academicachievement in-depth.This study will use the quantitative evaluation method as the core to explore thesocial science academic achievements;simultaneously, it also combine the quantitativeand qualitative evaluation methods organically, which will provide a scientificreference methods for governments, research institutions, and universities. This studydiscusses that how the community can build a good social and academic environmentfor the social science academic achievement evaluation; then it uses the literaturesurvey and the Delphi method to build the index system in order to maintain a goodenvironment and atmosphere so that the established indicator system will be more convincing and credible. And then, the analytical hierarchy process is used to givedifferent weights for different targets. On this basis, through gray clusteringquantitative method, social science academic achievements are evaluated andanalyzed. Finally, the study makes a few suggestions about the evaluation on thefuture of social science academic achievement. Meanwhile, it prospects the researchand development trends on evaluation of social science academic achievement.
