The Internet of Things (IoTs) is a fast developing emerging information technologyfield and it received the focus of attention from government, enterprises and relatedscholars all over the world when it is proposed in the late1990s. Thetransmission characteristics of IoTs are short distance, low power consumption and highspeed. And the low power requirement is not only an indicator for network performanceevaluation, but also an important reason that restricts the lifetime of the nodes. Therefore, itis crucial to design a low power consumption processor that specifics on the IoTs protocolto increase node lifetime and optimize the performance of network.Though general purpose processor has a great advantage in functional coverage, itsoverall performance is poor. Meanwhile, considering the excellent performance of ASIC,but it was designed only for one application and unprogrammable. Therefore, ApplicationSpecific Instruction-set Processor (ASIP) is the optimal choice. Based on the design ofASIP that specific on IoTs, it could decrease power consumption and increase lifetime ofnodes. However, the design of a high performance and low power consumptioninstruction-set is difficult and the key technology of ASIP.This thesis has implemented the instruction-set of ASIP which based on the protocol ofIoTs with the study on related knowledge. Firstly, this thesis will introduce the presentresearch achievements of IoTs and ASIP. Secondly, analyze basic protocol of IoTs to get thekey function blocks based on tools. The key function means the most used function. Inaddition, the final instruction-set is obtained from basic instruction-set and accelerateinstructions. Basic instructions-set includes the basic arithmetic operation, basic logicaloperation, compare&jump operation and data transfer operation. Meanwhile, a simulatoris developed based on the final instruction-set. The result of processor optimization can alsobe regarded as the reference model for the further research of low power consumptionprocessor.
