Based at Meng Song village, in the Sino-Burmese border, where Aka people, one group of the Hani Minority, inhabited, this essay presents Burmese Blang Minority female tea-picking workers’cross-border labor flow (from their hometown to Meng Song village) by investigating these Burmese female workers and interviewing with Meng Song’s local people; then this essay analyzes the adaptation of these female workers.The essay consists of introduction, body and conclusion. The body has five chapters. The first chapter of the body introduces the main subject by analyzing tea plantation economy is the main livelihood at Meng Song village in the aspect of this village’ tea industry’s developing history and status, so the workforce shortage caused by expanding tea plantations unceasingly leads to the Burmese Blang Minority female workers cross border to Meng Song village. The second chapter makes a background introduction of the main subject-Burmese Blang Minority female tea-picking workers, as well as an analysis of the reason and method of these female workers’ transnational flow. The third chapter narrates in detail the main subject’s work and life style as a female tea-picking worker. The fourth chapter illustrates the transnational and cross-ethnic social interaction between Burmese Blang female employers and Chinese Hani Minority employees, which raises the question that what aspects of adaptation the Burmese Blang female tea-picking workers face in the immigrant area. In the last chapter, the essay discusses the adaptation’s strategy of the female workers. Accordingly, the writer tries to reveal that the main factor of influencing the Burmese Blang female workers’adaptation to Meng Song village is the bilateral cultural distance. In different aspects of adaptation, the female workers will make the cultural identity selectively depending on their own gender role and actual demands, while the individual difference between the female workers also leads them to take different strategies to adaptation, mainly consisting of separation and integration. Finally, analyzed the reasons for this phenomenon.
