The Dilemma Of The New Generation Of Farm Worker's Spouse-picking And The Countermeasure Analysis

On basis of on-the-spot investigation and analysis philological material, this article emphasizes to detail on the dilemma in spouse-picking of the new generation of urban migrant workers. First, this article discriminates the concept of urban migrant workers and the new generation of urban migrant workers, and meanwhile points out the theoretical perspective carried on this research: Social Exchange Theory and Marital Market Theory. On this foundation, this article, further on, analyzes the job-choosing, living and social conditions of the new generation of urban migrant workers, which are closely relative to their marriage-choosing, and then comes to the idea that city experience, social flow and striking contrast on the rural society are the primary factors to influence their life and spouse selection. On their point of view, coming out of countryside and stepping into city are the only way to pursue happy life. However, there is great distance between city dream and reality, which, thus seriously affect their life and spouse-picking in the city.This article highlights that even if the new generation of farm workers have strong desire to live in the city and their mates, for the influence from the population factor and the social economic factor in Marital Extrusion, as well as the limitation from the difference between their narrow social circle, social concept and also the rule of equally matched, they have to adopt a traditional way on the aspect of spouse-picking: return to hometown for marriage. This is the reluctantly rational choice of the new generation of urban migrant worker. Finally, this article offers corresponding solutions and suggestions, particularly on the point of the new generation of urban migrant workers' spouse selection, hoping that will give inspirations and help to solve the new generation of urban migrant workers' spouse selection problem.
