In the end of twentieth century,the world have developed a reform of basic education. With the wave of this reform,China’s basic education reform started,and has gained gratifying achievements after nearly ten years of reform and development. Textbook reform is an important part of the basic education curriculum reform. British history represents a significant chapter in the world history, which largely reflects Chinese government and education for the British’s views and impressions. Therefore, the British image in history high school history textbooks is a worthy of study theme.Throughout the history of the modern world history, Britain was the first to completed the modernization. All the major events in the modern history of Britain were around modern theme. In this paper, Therefore, the British image in high school history textbooks is defined as "the first modernization country in the world ". Take the People’s Publishing House in 2010 high school history textbook for the study, and interpret the contents of the image of British by studying British history, as well as make some practical ideas and suggestions for enrich and improve the of this part of the textbook.In this paper, the study of British image in high school divide into five parts: The first part is the British political image analysis, reference to compulsoryⅠ, interpret the content related to the political history of the United Kingdom, and analyze how textbooks reflect modern British politics. By analyzing the results, the British political explorations gradually democratization and legalization. The second part is the British economy image analysis, analysis, reference to compulsoryⅡ, through the study of the rise of the British, Industrial Revolution, and the second industrial revolution, analyze the British economy’s industrial and marketization. The third part,reference to compulsoryⅢ, is analysis of British history in relation to cultural and scientific history, and present the scientific and Popularization of the British modern culture. The fourth part is the study of major British historical figures, reflecting their role in promoting the modernization of Britain. The fifth part is overall image interpretation and assessment of the British in the People’s Publishing House 2010 edition high school history textbooks, and made some suggestions for improvements,hope for further enrich and develop the image of British history textbooks.
