China is a big maritime power, but China is not a Marine power. Since the1970s,neighboring countries have started to take a variety of excuses to occupy our maritimespace, frequently territorial dispute with China and constantly intensifiedcontradictions. After all, it is because of Chinese comprehensive strength and themarine power is not strong enough, and there is not enough stress on the role of theocean, Lead to people ignore marine geographic education for a long. Therefore, wemust promptly make up Marine Geographic this lesson, promptly strengthen theeducation of Marine Geography, and wake up the consciousness of ocean, to buildChina into a marine power that it will love, cherish, understand the sea, at the sametime will use the sea.Through the comparison research method and questionnaire method, this study isbased on the status of American and Chinese marine geographic education, trying tofind out the difference between Chinese and American Marine Geographic Educationand the status of our country’s marine geography education, To explore how tostrengthen the marine geographic education in China and find the practical basis toimprove students’ awareness of the ocean.By contrast, the author found the two countries have some same points aboutmarine geographic education, displays in: In the knowledge and skills objectives, bothcountries pay great attention to the formation of marine geographic knowledge andskills; In the target of process and method, both countries emphasize forming theability of marine geography; In the emotional attitude and value objectives, bothcountries emphasis on forming the correct values; The marine geographic knowledgecontent is basically the same; Activity also have many types in two textbooks. At the same time, it also exist many differences in marine geographic educationbetween the two countries. In the knowledge and skills objectives, the knowledge ofocean geographic is more specific and more system in our country, but the summaryof skills is more general too, and America emphasize the students acquiringknowledge and skills in practice. In the target of process and method, the marinegeography education in America often let students practice and hands-on, and Chinais in knowledge and ideas on stage. In the emotional attitude and value objectives,Chinese clearly put forward the target of student in the emotion attitude and value, butno attention to the behavior orientation after the education, and America makes fewsuch target. The characteristics of teaching content arrangement is different, soAmerica use a spiral pattern and repeat learning stages; China adopts lineararrangement, step by step, can learn the content completely. In addition, in theteaching process, USA encourage students learning in practice and China givesknowledge to students directly, so there are few hands-on opportunities.The differences between China and the United States in the marine geographiceducation, and according to the problem of marine geographic education in china,reference the advantage in USA marine geographic education, China can optimize themarine geographic education through standardization the marine education in theclass and attention to the limitation and influence about law and publicity outsideclass.
