Background Oral health knowledge and health behavior is one important determinant of oral health level.Decay and gingivitis occurred widely in students.It plays an important role in prevention of oral diseases which investigate their oral health cognition and behavior habits, and carries on the related intervention.Scholars in China and abroad make a great deal of research about oral health knowledge level of students.But for the same area of different education level of the students’ oral health knowledge and behavior survey were rare.Research Objectives To understand cognitive levels and behaviors of oral health of primary, secondary and college students in Hefei City and analyzed the differences of cognition and behavior of oral health among students at different stages so that we can provide the basis of different education methods targeted to students at different stages.Method The questionnaire was designed though preliminary investigation based on re lative literature and final questionnaire was obtained after reliability and validity test s were conducted.Randomly selected 2608 students in the primary and secondary s chools and in the universities in Hefei City and took centralized, anonymous and self-administered questionnaires and before the survey unified training of investi gators.The excel software is adopted to establish the database. Using spss19.0 d ata statistical analysis the results to investigate and analyze the cognition and be havior of oral health among students.Result Can replace toothbrush percentage of students within 3 months from high to low in turn is a college students 80.9%,high school students71.6%,junior high school students68.7%,primary school students62.6%.The number of times of brushing teeth every day is statistically difference between college and high school students.58.9% of college students said often eat snacks,followed by high school students, junior high school students, primary school students.There is statistically difference between high school and junior high school students, junior high school students and primary school students.Each stage of the students are biased side chewing habits, accounts for about50%, there is no statistical difference between each stages. Most of high school students by about 82.9% think it’s important to regularly check the oral health,followed by primary school students, junior high school students, college students.When choosing a hospital for a treatment, 54% students choose dental clinics, dental clinics are choose by48.9% of junior high school students, 50.3% of high school students choose at or above the county level comprehensive hospital, 43.5% of college students choose a comprehensive hospital at or above the county level.Most primary way to get the oral health knowledge through family and friends,Junior high school students, high school students.college students are most from the network to learn oral health knowledge,followed by family and friends, books, newspapers, radio, teachers.Conclusion There exits different degrees of difference between each stage of the students’ oral health knowledge and oral health habits.Part of the oral health knowledge and behavior associated with the degree of education.While some habits and cognitive has no obvious correlation with the changes in the level of education.We need to take a different mission in different stages of the method be in a planned way targeted for students. We must develop the distinctive education scheme for school teachers and health workers,strong oral health education of students, promote the improvement of the students’ oral health status.
