Objectives:(1)Studying the oral health status in Bai preschool children.(2)Investigating the factors related to the caries status in Bai preschool children.Methods:An oral health survey was performed between 2015 and 2016 to select 5-year-old Bai children using multi-stage stratified sampling in Yunnan.Their oral health status was measured using the dmft and visual plaque index.A questionnaire to study the children's and their parental socio-demographic background and oral health-related behaviors was completed by the children's parents.A model which explored the factors related to children's dental caries was tested in this study using structural equation modeling.Results:(1)This survey includes 6 districts in Yunnan province.A total of 789 children from 8 kindergartens joined this study,including 409 5-years-old Bai children were examined.The response pf the questionnaire survey was about 80%.Yunnan 5-years-old children caries prevalence was 76.8%,mean dmft score was 5.07(4.87),mean VPI scores was 61.61%,all above index have no significant difference with local Han children.(2)There were significant differences between Dali children and other 5 regions in the prevalence of caries.(3)The SEM results showed that socioeconomic factors influenced children's oral health practices through the impact of caregivers' oral health knowledge,attitude and practices,and children's oral health practices were linked directly to their caries.Conclusions:(1)Dental caries prevalence among the Bai preschool children in Yunnan,China,was high,and their oral hygiene was poor.(2)The Bai preschool children oral health status related to their own oral health practices,socioeconomic factors,and their caregiver's oral health knowledge,attitude,and practices.
