Aim:To explore whether the massage based on poking the positive reaction area on the neck has clinical efficacy on the treatment of cervical headacheMethods:In this study, We invited 70 patients who suffered from cervical headache to take part in the test. We divided them into two groups(treatment group and control group) randomly. In the treatment group, there were 13 men and 22 women, of whom the oldest was 65 while the youngest was 30. The average age of this group was42 and the average duration of their disease was 30 days. We adopted poking the positive reaction area to treat them. In the control group, there were 11 men and 24 women, of whom the oldest was 65 while the youngest was 30. The average age of this group was 40 and the average duration of their disease was 33 days. We adopted traditional manipulation massage treatment. To both groups, it took one treating period to treat them(a total of ten times:one time a day and have a two-day rest after 5 times). After that, we observed whether their headaches were relieved. Results:After one treating period, the clinical efficacy of the treatment group reaches 97.1% while the control group reaches 70.6%. The difference between two groups has statistical significance (P<0.05). After treatment, though the VAS and the ROM of the necks of both groups have improved a lot, the treatment group improved better.(P<0.01). Besides, the total scores of the consequent symptoms also improved a lot and there is no obvious difference between two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion:After one treating period, Poking the positive reaction area on the neck has worked better than the traditional manipulation massage treatment during the treatment of cervical headache. Both the VAS and ROM of the neck have improved a lot. Besides, the consequent symptoms have been relieved effectively through both techniques.
