Objective:Evaluate the clinical characteristics and the the efficacy of treatment with chemotherapy induced diarrhea in the colorectal cancer patients. Methods:Sixty colorectal cancer patients which were histopathologically confirmed were included in this retrospective study. Information such as age, sex, performance status, disease stage, chemotherapy regimens should be collected at the first beginning. Diarrhea related information was the main data measured, including start time, duration, frequency, stool characteristics, laboratory tests, accompanying symptoms. The treatment of diarrhea, diarrhea remission after treatment and adverse reactions were also considered. The first statistical result was the incidence of diarrhea, which was the main clinical characteristics of chemotherapy induced diarrhea. Then the related factors with the start time of diarrhea should be also included. The other results contained the remission rate, the recurrence rate and adverse reactions after treatments. Results:The incidence of diarrhea induced by FOLFIRI regimen. FOLFOX regimen、 Capecitabine was50%、21.05%、19.23%apart. The incidence of grade3or4diarrhea was14.29%、7.89%、7.69%. The incidence of early onset diarrhea induced by Irinotecan (CPT-11) was4.55%. The start time of chemotherapy induced diarrhea was not related with gender (P>0.05) and age (P>0.05), but related with performance status (P<0.005, r=0.77) and chemotherapy regimen (P<0.005, r=0.88). The average start time of chemotherapy induced diarrhea was4.11days. The remission rate of chemotherapy induced diarrhea was89.19%, and which of each treatment group was over than80%. The test with the efficacy of four treatment groups had no statistically difference (P>0.05). Only one patient had early onset diarrhea induced by CPT-11, and hilled between15minutes after intramuscular injecting2.5mg atropine. The recurrence rate of chemotherapy induced diarrhea was40.54%. Except of constipation、abdominal distension、loss of appetite, there was no other adverse reactions after treatments. Conclusion:The assessment and treatment of chemotherapy induced diarrhea are not currently standardized. More multi-center clinical trials about the prevention and treatment of chemotherapy induced diarrhea are needed.
