Clinical Observation On The Treatment Of Illness - Related Diarrhea Caused By Irinotecan By

Purpose:With the tremendous development of medicine, there has been a great breakthrough in cancer treatment,one of treatment- chemotherapy medications, which still has an unparalleled advantage, and chemotherapy play a very important role during treatment of malignant tumors. Although chemotherapy has significant therapeutic effect, however, the side effects should not be neglected. Chemotherapy-induced diarrhea can be seen in cancer patients during the period of chemotherapy treatment, which is a special type of diarrhea and one of the most common complications caused by chemotherapy drugs.Irinotecan is widely used in colorectal cancer, colorectal cancer and non-small cell lung cancer and its clinical efficacy has been widely recognized. However, the incidence of CID is higher and if they were not treated well, it may threaten patients’ life. Irinotecan has a wide broad spectrum of anti-tumor and a large number of scholars have explored how to alleviate its adverse effects. Traditional Chinese medicine has been proved to be, efficient to many disease.Based on the above reasons, we design this clinical study to explore whether Chaihuyiling soup can reduce irinotecan-induced diarrhea or not.Material and method:Patients with colorectal cancer were collected in The First Affiliated Hospital of Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine Oncology department from January 1, 2013 to January 1 2014, 42 cases were included, the overall sample were determined by diagnostic imaging, pathology for colorectal cancer, KPS score ≥60 points, delayed diarrhea caused by irinotecan after treatment for 24 h, and except for other non chemotherapy induced-diarrheal diseases. They were divided into treatment group and control groups according to treatment regimen.Treatment group 21 cases including 11 males and 10 females; aged from 41 to 73 years(58.76 ± 6.85), colon cancer12 cases, colorectal cancer 9 cases; Control group 21 cases including 16 males and 5 females; aged from 41 to 67 years(58.90 ± 5.67), diarrhea symptoms appeared in 7 colon cancer cases and 14 colorectal cancer cases. After chemotherapy treatment for 24 h, both of the two groups were given loperamide.what’ s more,the treatment group were given Chaihuyiling soup one week. Clinical data was analysed by SPSS17.0 software analysis package, count data using`x±S and measurement data using the t test and Pearsonχ2test, P <0.05 considered statistically significant.Results:After statistical analysis, we found during taking Chaihuyiling soup period,the number of diarrhea, the number of doses of loperamide, treatment time for diarrhea and KPS score after taking the soup, the differences about these four indicators between the treatment group and the control group were statistically significant(P <0.05). The difference of efficiency rate on CID was statistically significant(P <0.05) between treatment group and control group.Conclusion:Chaihuyiling soup recipe has been reported to be efficient in improving the quality of life of patients. Through this study we found that Chaihuyiling soup combined can reduce the total dose of loperamide; It can also effectively shorten the duration of diarrhea so as to shorten treatment time of diarrhea. And then alleviating the pain of patients as well as reducing hospitalization time; Chaihuyiling soup can be effective in treating delayed diarrhea, improving the quality of life of patients.
