Research On Service Mode Of Public Library In Shanghai Since Reform And Opening

The library is a symbol of urban cultural development. In this paper, the development of Shanghai Public Library Services since the Reform and Opening Policy is divided into three different historical periods. The period of Recovery development(1978-1984): the period is a manual-based service mode; Preliminary development period(1985- 1996): it is the initial period of development of modern library services; Depth development period(1997-2014): networked and diversified services have become the characteristics of this period.On the basis of the relevant data of Shanghai Public Library Service, this paper aims to study the evolution of Shanghai public library service modes and focuses on service modes under three different historical periods by contrast. Then, it sums up the laws of development of future library service mode.This paper is divided into the following four parts:Part I: the public library service modes during the period of Recovery development. First,the paper elaborates the basic situations of the development of public library services including business conditions, funds and staff mumbers during the recovery period. Then,it focuses on the situations of library lending services, reference services, training and education activities in the manual-service mode.Part II: The public library service modes during the period of Initial development. First,the paper elaborates the basic situations of the development of public library services including business conditions, funds, staff mumbers and information devices during this period. Secondly, this paper expounds the preliminary development of the library modern services including the reform and deepening of the traditional services, the library automation service and active advertising and promotion.Part III: The public library service modes during the Depth development period. First,it elaborates the basic situations of the development of public library services including business conditions, funds, staff mumbers and information devices during this period. In second section,it describes several service modes including the Shanghai Central Library service mode, network information service mode and innovation modes of specialized services.Part IV: The contrast and the laws of development. First, it compares three different historical periods from material elements, architecture, contents and methods of library services. Secondly, Summarizing the laws of development.
