| "I am a singer" is a popular singing competition program produced and broadcasted by Hunan Satellite TV in2013. Compared with the previous television programs,"I am a singer" not only got high ratings in Mainland China, but also sparked acclaimed by critics and viewers alike in Taiwan.This article chose four newspapers in Taiwan as the research objects, including "United Daily News","China Times","Apple Daily","Liberty Times", and obtained394samples in total. By using the relevant principles of the Frame Theory, this article conducted quantitative research of the four newspapers’reports from the published time, text type, published layout, reports theme, sources, and the cognitive attitude for the program, attempted to describe the development process of the subject, and constructed the reported panorama of "I am a singer" from the four newspapers’reports in2013. On the basis of quantitative analyses, this article summarized and extracted six news frames——"Participate","Compete","Tool","Invade","Observe" and "Introspect", which could be verified by the specific instance of the text, adopted by the four newspapers.Studies suggest that "I am a singer" proved to be a great success in Taiwan, observed from the high and acclaimed by critics and viewers alike, reported by the four newspapers. In addition to the discussions on the program, there were diversity issues to be generated, including political, economic, and cultural issues. The four newspapers followed a variety of media frame to organize their own reports, mainly concerned about the performance of singers from Taiwan, highlighting the strengths and subject consciousness of Taiwan when thinking about the cultural creative industries. These frames implied a distinction sense of identity between Taiwan and Mainland China."I am a singer" led to a lively discussion across the Taiwan Strait, reflecting the enormous potential of cultural soft power and strengthening that the cultural exchanges and cooperation between the Mainland China and Taiwan was necessary and urgent.This article intended to start with researching the four Taiwan newspapers, ended with the cultural clash and gaps presented by the reports, to make up the blank of discussions and reflections on the topic of the Cross-Strait. Article was divided into six chapters. The first chapter was the research background and significance, the second chapter was theoretical discussions and literature reviews, the third chapter was research methods, the fourth chapter was quantitative analyses, the fifth chapter was qualitative analyses, and the sixth chapter was the conclusions and research proposals. |
