Media Representation Of Risk Issues Analysis

With the development of science and technology and the progress of society, the people’s daily life has undergone tremendous changes. Science and technology bring people in civilization and convenient at the same time, the risk also inevitably depth in. Under the background of globalization, nuclear radiation, environmental pollution, ecological imbalance, the food safety events such as meet the eye everywhere, may have or have become the source of social risk, the world already entered Ulrich Beck’s "risk society".While the risk of widespread and sudden, the government, social organizations and the public to become risk management community. And most of the public assessment of risk, rely on the intuition in judgment, namely" perceived risk", and their relevant experience in risk mainly comes from the media. In a risk society, media information made public to make risk decision-making, but also the nature of the role definition of event. Media in risk issue again presented to the public in the process, play a decisive role.In this thesis, we study the coverage of two Taiwan newspapers" United Daily News" and "The Liberty Times" on plasticizer event, using content analysis of news frame analysis, which attempts to understand the media in the reset present issues, showing what characteristics; different background media in presenting issues have what similarities and differences; risk issues the news rendered report frame thereof; each element is how to influence reporting framework.Study found that, the news media played a frame field, and frames competing with each other, with the topic of development cycle, changes; with issue cycle development, and all sources to join discussions, newspaper stands more conservative neutral; news reports often use " conflict frame", to highlight the importance of an event; and the face of human common risk issues, two newspapers stand in line, and there is no obvious different.
