Cross-strait relations are one of the important issues in modern China,and the research on the topic of cross-strait relations is of great significance.For more than 60 years,relations between the two sides have fluctuated.From the development of cross-strait relations,1991 was the key turning point.By 2008,ma ying-jeou was elected,and the cross-straits relations have improved by leaps and bounds.The media plays an important role in cross-strait relations.Many people in Taiwan know about the mainland through the media,and the Taiwan media's coverage and interpretation of events involving cross-straits relations have a profound impact on the people of Taiwan.Taiwan's media coverage of cross-strait relations has become even more important in 2016,when Taiwan's political party is in power.Taking incidents involving "cross-strait relations" as the point of view,the research framework of Taiwan's newspapers reported on the issue,select the united daily news in Taiwan from 2016 to 2018 the liberty times,a total of 1460 samples of content analysis,attempts to study how Taiwan media reported that involved in the events of the cross-straits relations.The two newspapers in Taiwan(the joint newspaper and the liberty times)analyzed the differences and causes of the reports on cross-strait relations.The study found that there was a tendency to report on the topic: overall,the coverage of the issue was dominated by neutral(55.0%)and negative(43.8%),followed by positive(1.2%).The united daily news is given priority to with neutral reports(94.6%),followed by negative reports and positive coverage,and the liberty times reported negative dominant(83.9%),followed by neutral reports(16.0%),positive proportion(0.1%)rarely reported.On the whole,the coverage of the issue was mainly composed of politics(78.2%),society(5.6%),economy(4.6%),culture(1.8%)and military(9.9%).Among them the liberty times and the united daily news is the most focus on political issues(73.1% and 83.4%),in comparison,the liberty times than that of the united daily news is more focused on military issues(15.8% and 3.9%),basic same attention on other issues.Through these results,we also analyzed that the coverage of "cross-strait relations" in Taiwan newspapers mainly focuses on the political level.The coverage of the issue in Taiwan's newspapers mainly focuses on neutral reporting and negative reporting;The coverage of the issue in the blue and green media is very different,and the green media is extremely negative.The green media is more focused on militaryissues than the blue media.By means of "fraud","the people's liberation army offshore training" and "guest group lu alight" three events reported framework analysis,compare the two newspapers in the similarities and differences between the three events reporting framework,found that both have its own reporting bias,and the reasons for this phenomenon are: ideology and the influence of the media's position,the influence of the media system and commercial factors,news media and the effect of the "gatekeeper" role.
