Overseas Mineral Resource Information Sharing Platform

Mineral resources is the material foundation to the human survival and socialdevelopment. It is an important guarantee of national economic development. InChina, we have rich mineral resources but less appropriation of per-capita quantityof it. The tension between supply and demand of oil, iron, aluminum, and otherresources is the basic condition of the mineral resources at present stage in China.More and more enterprises begin to explore, exploit and manage the mineralresources abroad since implementing "going out" strategy in China. This requires asharing platform about mineral resources aboard to provide some information offoreign mining companies, such as economic activity information, annualexploration program, mining projects, the extent of research work area and so on.Currently, mineral resource information construction in China is mainly for thedomestic. The main purpose is to realize the professional usage or to deliver resultsof the research. There are many kinds of database which contain lots of information,but lack of information integration. So, to solve the problem, this paper will explorethe theory and try to realize the system.This research is based on the global mineral company information，the globalmineral project information，the foreign geological literature and the newest researchof the National Geological Library of China which are the data source of theplatform. The platform is realized by OpenLayers，C#，JavaScript，Ajax，ADO.NETand other technology which using GeoServer as map server and using IIS7.0as webserver. The function of this platform is to organize the data，to establish the databaseand to display the information. The purpose of this platform is providing informationabout the distribution of mineral resources and the exploitation issues that can givesome suggestions to the decision makers and researchers of the government agencies,institutions and mineral company.
