With the development of urbanization, the electricity consumption in cities increase rapidly, so the construction of new power supply lines is inevitable. Cable network’s coverage continues to expand, these causes electricity production management more complexity. The usage of information technology have improven the efficiency of production management in the electricity production management and it becomes a big trend. The application of power production and the cover of power cable network increases as time goes by. With the development of technology, the modernization of power network has been speeding up. As a result, it is urgent to meet the need of decision-making and management department by applying high technology and method to manage power data efficiently.GIS(Geographic Information System) is a specific spatial information system. As Power production equipment, with its typical point-line-surface distribution, is highly regional, and closely related with each other, the application of WebGIS to manage power production and system equipment by conducting various operations on the geographical background will not only lessen the workload of the employees, but also vividly embodies the geographical relation among equipment by the combination of spatial data and property data.This thesis contains the following aspects:(1) WebGIS is introduced to the power production management in order to reduce the workload of the employees and enable the management personnel to access the equipment information from any internet node in the power supply bureau; PostGIS spatial database engine is applied to manage spatial data, to configurate Mapserver map server and to use the API of OpenLayers to present maps;(2) It realizes the organic integration between this system and information management system, such as power distribution production management, power consumption marketing, remote meter reading and etc. and the data sharing between GIS and MIS. It also realizes the real-time updating of GIS spatial data and property data by calling related data of MIS through GIS, and at the same time, the reduction of the repeat entry guarantees the integration of various system data;(3) The power production equipment GIS system is constructed as the information sharing platform of the whole power production equipment and the power data are input, deleted, and modified in an unified way in order to avoid repeated work, to provide information support for the management, design and repair of power production equipment.In a word, taking geographical information platform as the base and applying the comprehensive management information system of power distribution equipment management and power cable inquiry and counting, this thesis reduces the workload of the personnel, promotes the innovation of power cable management, enhances the visualization of the system, provides modern management methods for the power production management and accelerate the information construction of power industry.
