The rapid expansion of Internet scale makes IPv6replace IPv4inevitable. Meanwhile, with theevolution of mobile communication and the popularity of wireless terminal, people trend to putforward new requirement about the continuity when mobile terminal moves. In order to make iteasy for mobile terminal to access the Internet, the IETF drew up the Mobile IPv6protocol in2004.But because of its big handover delay and large signaling, reserachers had put forward manymodified handover protocols, such as MIPv6、FMIPv6、HMIPv6and FHMIPv6.Ad Hoc networks have been widely used in areas as military, natural disaster emergencyresponse, scientific investigation, emergency communication and so on because of its features:un-infrastructured and flexible.For Ad Hoc Networks, Mobile IPv6provides a permanent IP for mobile node to communicatewith other nodes, which is transparent to the upper layers. It’s the Mobile IPv6handover that reallymatters when combine Ad Hoc networks with Mobile IPv6. This paper focuses on the fast MobileIPv6handover algorithm in Ad Hoc networks.The main content of the paper is as below:Frist of all, we introduce the available Mobile IPv6handover protocols, on this basis weanalyse the improved protocols to put forward the advantages and disadvantages about it.Secondly, We analyse the features and architecture about Ad Hoc networks.What’s more, weintroduce the MIPv6handover procedures used in Ad Hoc networks and analyse the delay.On thisbasis,we put forward the MIPv6handover algorithm used in cross-layer Ad Hoc network, and dosome work to make the MIPv6adapt to Ad Hoc network.Thirdly, by analyzing the available prediction schemes, we put forward the L2-Trigger triggerscheme which is used on the base of movement prediction. Forthmore,we put forward the Improvedcross-layer Mobile IPv6handover scheme based on Ad Hoc network.At last, we conduct the experiment to testify the suggested algorithm using NS-2.Bystructuring the network and adding the new algorithm,we analyse the performance about thehandover algorithm.
