With the development of internet and wireless communication technology, people’s life style and habit have changed and they need to connect to internet at anytime, any where. Therefore, IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) presents the definition of mobile IPv6for providing a solution to this need. While moving between different subnets, there is a negative effect on MN, at this moment, handoff will happen; there is a blackout time during this period. It is unacceptable for some realtime applications.In order to solve the problem of call interruption, latency and other issues caused by node’s movement in different subnets, IETF has proposed some improved protocols based on mobile IPv6, such as FMIPv6, HMIPv6and so on. This paper mainly researches various switching mechanism of the IPv6mobile, the basic principles and the workflows of FMIPv6, HMIPv6firstly, as well as makes an analysis to F-HMIPv6’s handover latency. Then this paper focuses on F-HMIPv6switching mechanism, analysises the F-HMIPv6protocols and finds some defects and shortage, puts forward the improvement measures, so as to be able to improve the switching mechanism’s F-switching performance of F-HMIPv6greatly.The improved F-HMIPv6reduces the overall handoff delay of Mobile IPv6by handover analysis. The simulation work is completed by the NS-2tool. The results of theoretical analysis and simulation show that the handover optimization solution to achieve simple, reliable, and its performance is better than traditional methods.At last, analysis and summary the inadequate of improved handover scheme, and prospect for further research on the improvements of handover mechanism.
