This paper is about the design and development of electrical automation experimentalplatform. The main task of the paper is to build and develop a versatile and flexible electricalautomation experimental platform which is able to meet the needs of teaching experimentsand research. This experimental platform taking Schneider M218, M258PLC and LMC058motion controller as the core includes touch screens, frequency converters, servo drives,servo motors and mechanical arms and so on. It solved the problem that the previousexperimental platform which has simple equipments is not flexible. It is of good practicalsignificance.This paper constructed four different experimental platforms: electrical automation basicexperimental platform A, electrical automation basic experimental platform B, integratedautomation experimental platform and motion control experiment platform. About electricalautomation basic experimental platform A, this paper designed a number of teachingexperiments and a experiment about PLC communicating with frequency converters. Basedon the Ethernet function of M218PLC this paper designed the Ethernet communicationsystem which achieved that a frequency converter can be controlled by remote devicesthrough Ethernet. This paper also illustrated the situation of Ethernet communication of severallogic controllers. About electrical automation basic experimental platform B, this paperdesigned a servo system which has one motor. This system can give us exact speed andposition. About integrated automation experimental platform, this paper illustrated thebackground and communication structure of CANopen technology and designed a servosystem which has two servo motors. About motion control experiment platform, based on thefunction of electronic cam and CNC of LMC058motion controller this paper designed twocontrol systems about electronic cam and computer numerical control.
