With the rapid development of integrated circuit industry, the gap of performance between the processor and main memory is more and more big. While, cache as a transfer station between the two, the improvement of its performance is of great help to the whole system performance’s improvement. The cache is mainly composed of Data, the Tag and peripheral circuit, Tag is implemented by CAM (Content Addressable Memory). CAM can rapidly compare the search data with all the stored data in parallel.. So, the research of high performance CAM in depth has important significance.This thesis mainly researched the HYBRID type match line and designed a16KB CAM which is based on the structure of the HYBRID matching line.The main work and the innovative points of this thesis are given in the following:1. We have done a detailed analysis on six different CAM bit cell, including structure, working principle, advantages and disadvantages. Through the simulation and comparison of Six different CAM bit cell,we selected suitable CAM bit cell for this paper.2. The CAM match-line’s structures are analyzed in depth. By comparing the simulation results, we summarized the advantages and disadvantages of each structure.3. We proposed a high performance hybrid CAM which is based on hybrid structure.Through the simulation analysis, the results show that the CAM has the characteristics of high speed low power consumption and high stability.4. In view of the hybrid structure which is put forward in this paper, we designed the overall architecture, the peripheral circuit of CAM, and do a basic functional simulation.
